What Boolean Builder does
Boolean Builder builds boolean search strings for LinkedIn, LinkedIn Recruiter, Google X-ray and GitHub X-ray. This website has a free generator and ready strings for common roles. The browser extension builds strings from a form or from a job description and puts a string into the search box of the open page when you click.
This website
The website has no accounts and no sign-in.
The generator runs in your browser. It does not send the terms you type to a server.
The website can record page views and clicks with the analytics server of {{publisherName}}: the page address, the link or button you click, up to 120 characters of the text you click and a random visitor ID. It never records what you type in a field.
If you click a string on a page, the analytics server can get the first 120 characters of that string.
The website server receives the usual request data, such as your IP address and the browser name.
What the extension reads and changes
The extension has no access to websites when you install it. At your first click of "Insert into search box", Chrome asks you to allow access to LinkedIn and Google. You can remove this access in the Chrome extension settings.
The extension uses this access only when you click "Insert into search box". It reads the address of the open page to find the search box, puts the string into that box and moves the cursor to it.
The extension does not start a search, does not open profiles and does not read search results. It does not click or type anything else on LinkedIn or Google for you.
AI builds
At your first AI build, Chrome asks you to allow access to the extension server of {{publisherName}}. Without this access, the extension sends nothing.
When you ask the extension to build a string from a job description, the extension sends the text you pasted to the extension server of {{publisherName}}. The extension server passes it to an AI service for that one build and returns the suggested titles, skills and exclusions to the extension.
The extension server does not save the job description or the answer. It saves only the number of AI builds per install, per network and per day, to apply the daily limit.
Do not paste personal data of candidates into the job description field.
Install ID and daily limit
At your first AI build, the extension gets a random install ID and a key from the extension server of {{publisherName}}. The extension keeps them in your browser. The extension server stores the install ID and a hash of the key, not the key itself.
The extension server also stores a keyed hash of your network: the first three numbers of an IPv4 address, or the first half of an IPv6 address. Its database keeps no IP address.
The extension server uses these values to count AI builds per install and per network, and new installs per network.
After the first AI build, the extension asks the extension server how many AI builds you have left when you open the panel.
Saved strings
Strings you save in the extension library stay in your browser storage. {{publisherName}} does not receive your saved strings.
Usage statistics
The extension sends usage events to the analytics server of {{publisherName}}, for example that the side panel opened or that a string was copied.
An event contains a random analytics ID, a session ID, the time, the extension version and the event name. Some events also say which search you picked, how many tags a saved string has or why an AI build failed.
For Insert, an event says which kind of page it was: LinkedIn, LinkedIn Recruiter, Google or another page. It never contains the page address.
An event never contains a job description, a search term or a search string.
